Next up, the Fighting Irish. As my daughter has direct lineage to the smaller island of the UK, I'm all for eliminating that mascot.

Reminds me of the controversial Band halftime show, "The Irish, why must they fight?"  It's good that show didn't happen in the social media era, or a sh*tstorm would have erupted as a result.  The irony, of course, was that the band was not making fun of the Irish; it was making fun of Notre Dame's mascot, which, if you think about it, would be rather offensive if not adopted by a Catholic school with fairly deep Irish roots.
