A lot of people are dumping on Kelly for that, but I don't really see why. He's just saying, if you don't really want to be here, it's not going to work out well for anybody, so leaving is probably the best thing. I'd say the same thing about Stanford.

Agreed.  I don't see much particularly damning in those comments.  He doesn't sugar coat anything, but I don't think of them as particularly harsh, either, unless you are squinting hard and trying to read something into them.

I wonder, too, about the position of some ND fans that Kelly somehow ran Lynch out of town by treating him badly.  Really?  Kelly may lose it at times on the sidelines, but are we thinking he is really the Bobby Knight of football?  I doubt it, personally.  He certainly has blown up at players, but usually when they obviously screwed up on the field, and given Lynch's quality of play as a freshman I would doubt  that he often received that type of treatment.  The kid flipped three times between FSU and ND before going to South Bend.  Sounds like he really couldn't stand the overwhelming night life of the small midwestern town, to go along with missing family and friends.
