I agree with most of what you said except the last part about Harder being disadvantaged in future job searches--the article itself states that a dinner Harder was supposed to have with the coach of another program was cancelled because of the Petrino scandal. I think all networking events that aren't public between male coaches in positions of authority and women prospective hires will suffer a chilling effect. There are ways to work around it--coaches can bring their spouses or significant others, but still, there's a new obstacle to deal with.
