Interesting. Is the Duke women's hoops team at that much greater risk than the men's? The other athletes and teams on campus? Yes, I know Coach K called for a suspension of activities . . . well, except for the Notre Dame game.
I initially thought the players might revisit this down the road. But now I don't think so. 3 wins over teams I've never heard of; followed by a home loss (20+) to Louisville. First year head coach. Can't help but wonder if coach would just as soon put this season on ice and regroup with her own recruits next season.
The rest of the country will likely stumble through this hoops season as the football teams did - we'll see if they get through. On the one hand, it's indoors so competitor risk of spread is higher; otoh, the Powers That Be seemed determined to have men's and women's March Madness (and vaccines should be rolling out in the first quarter - though certainly not nearly enough for any kind of immunity. Still, if you lessen the risk to the vulnerable in these communities, that is a big positive.
We'll see. Should be interesting. Good luck to all.
