Among performances I have watched in person, two that stand out come from our 1999 game against UCLA. Troy Walters caught nine passes for 278 yards and three touchdowns, and Joe Borchard completed 15 of 19 passes for 324 yards in relief of an injured Todd Husak. And Borchard had a lengthy scramble (40 yards or so?) on third down late in the game when Stanford was clinging to a 35-32 lead. The drive ended with a Borchard touchdown pass to DeRonnie Pitts, giving Stanford a 42-32 victory.
I saw Roberto Luongo make 52 saves against the Sharks in 2014. Florida had no business winning that game as the Sharks had outshot the Panthers 54-24, but Luongo was dialed in that night.
I'm too young to have seen Secretariat compete, but I did see Arrogate win the 2016 Travers Stakes by 13 /2 lengths and become the first horse in Saratoga Race Course history to break the two-minute barrier for 1 1/4 miles (1:59.36 was his final time). At his peak, Arrogate was the best American race horse so far this century, in my opinion.
