Stanford seems to be very careful about not releasing any player health information without the player's/family's permission.
It's not what you say, it's what you don't say.
No "Day to day." No "We hope to have her back next game/week". No "We're not sure about the situation". No "We'll know more after the doctors see her"
Besides, I expect BobK knows exactly what transpired and wisely doesn't reveal it.
This wreaks of a disciplinary benching. Such a benching shouldn't damage a good relation between coach & mature team member. It should benefit the team because it shows a potential All-American and high draft pick has to abide by the same rules.
The fact that Tara says nothing more about it also is a good sign. No public airing of behavior that the player may regret. No statement by the coach that might unnecessarily irritate the player.
The fact that she sat the whole game suggests that the infraction was mildly serious or was a repeated lesser issue. Yet it wasn't up to driving a golf cart while drunk.
A concern I have is what if the triggering event(s) is repeated. I suppose Tara can repeat the benching rather than raising the punishment.
If Haley chooses to say something such as "I did X [or, "broke team rules"] and I was justifiably benched", that's a good sign. If she doesn't choose to say so, I'll respect that as being neutral.
For all we know, she went out without her mask on, or something like that. Not disrespectful, but potentially damaging to her & thus the team.
