Those that might search the available "Way Too Early Top 25 Rankings" at various sites will find that Stanford routinely is located in the #7 - #15 range. While that might not translate into a BCS Bowl season, at least not for a private school from the Pac-12, it would represent a decent season.
Luck's departure is the biggest recent test yet, but most "experts" seem to agree that it is far from a glass 1/2 full situation.
But the real news is that ESPN commentators actually know the Stanford program now. None of those "Cardinals" or "Their OL" or "The new QB" type language that seemed to plague Stanford a few years ago. Throughout the conversation there was a real ability by multiple people to recall specific players and coaches, and throughout the discussion they had ample ESPN footage to feature key points. Ahhh.... :)
