Stanford wins 16-7.
I only got to see the 4th quarter. Stanford was up 11-5 but put in a different goalie. She let a couple of consecutive cross-cage shots get by her, reducing the lead to 11-7 with 4+ minutes to go (a surmountable difference). I believe there was another goalie change (and then another). Stanford offense went to work on an apparently tiring SJSU team. There were several close-in shots, whether from 2 on 1 fast breaks or just fast transitions.
I don't think I've seen this before: Stanford had a 6 on 5, and a shot went out of bounds off the goalie for a Stanford throw-in from the 2 meter line. Apparently the player that brought it in put the ball in play (a "pass" to herself) and then took a shot from the 2-meter line at the side of the pool. It snuck in behind the goalie. Strong shot.
The SJSU goalie looked pretty good, saving several close shots in the 4th. I think she had 11 saves.
Stanford is now 2-1, and looking much better than their first game against ASU.
Another game at Stanford Sunday at noon (#14 SDSU). No spectators. (Too bad, but appropriate)
