Farmboy, you did not say UVa is beneath Stanford, but others did.

The implication was that Stanford SHOULD do better.  Over the past 30 years UVa and Stanford look pretty comparable.

The East Coast schools, like the schools from the South, the mountain areas and the midwest want LA kids.  Your average East Coast fan may not know the difference, but the football coaches know there is the Bay Area and then there is LA.  The Notre Dame coaching staff plays Stanford, and then jumps on planes to SoCal for recruiting while the kids fly back to Indiana.  That pretty much says it all.

However, some UVa alums probably would like a weekend in San Francisco.  So a home and home is perfect.  Good for them, and good for Stanford.
