Under the previous TV deal, every single Stanford football game of the past two years was televised live without resorting to goofball scheduling. The main complaint against that contract was that supposed Fox Sports didn't get Stanford or the conference enough exposure. This new deal is clearly a step back in terms of exposure. Outside Northern California, some of our football games will now be airing at 3 a.m. And for basketball it will be a ton of them.
And how many were broadcast the two years before that? It's fun to imagine we're always going to be a top-10 team, but in reality we won't be, and ABC or ESPN won't be picking up our games, just like they're not picking up Oregon State or Colorado games this year. More Pac-12 games are going to be on TV this year, that's a fact. And all but a tiny number of those are going to be on TV everywhere in the country thanks to ONE extra channel, and all will be available in places that get a regional channel (which I bet will be most locations you can buy an extra sports package) or places that have internet access. That's an increase in conference exposure.
