To actually answer your question ...

Stanford is 54.75 points behind Texas with only baseball remaining. Both are in the CWS (final 8).
To make up 55 points in volleyball, Stanford would have had to make it to the round of 16 (64 points).
Making it to the round of 32 would have been 50 points, which at least would have given Stanford a mathematical chance to pull it out in baseball.
