Had a very nice conversation today with Howard Wolf who is our Alumni Association liason to may things. Really helped me crystallize my thoughts about Muir:
- Under Muir's leadership, considerable damage has been done to the reputation of Stanford Athletics and to the Univeristy as a whole (to a lesser extent) from the Varsity Blues and 36 Sports Strong fiascos
- While not entirely responsible for these issues, he is the organizational leader and is accountable for the Varisty Blues scandal and the financial mismanagement that forced the decision to cut 11 sports
- Someone needs to repair the damage, especially with the donor base
- I don't think Muir can be the person to make those repairs
- I have lost faith in him and I no longer trust him to make good decisions nor to communicate effectively either internally or externally
