What's up with the individual leader Michael Brennan (Wake Forest) scoring -11 and his team collectively scoring +3 ?
I imagine he has to be frustrated. Is he a superstar with no supporting cast, or did something odd happen regarding the team score?
College golf is a team sport. In tournaments like the Colonial (and the NCAAs), schools plays 5 golfers in each round with the lowest 4 scores in that round counting. Brennan had a great tournament, running away with the individual title. But he did not get enough help from his teammates to win the team title. It's not really frustrating. That's just golf.
The best college teams can get contributions from all 5 players and peak at the right time (which means peaking at the NCAA regionals and championship in May).
