I disagree. My cable and internet bill is about 140$ a month right now, and that doesn't even include all the possible sports packages- I don't have access to the FSN network even if I wanted to pay for it because TWC in NYC doesn't offer it. Now, ESPN is the most expensive channel for cable providers, and it is around 5$ a subscriber. The next most expensive channels are in the 1$ range. Even assuming a rather hefty markup in a direct to consumer model, ESPN, or the PAC-12, or Stanford could mark up that cost by double, and I'd still be paying 20 bucks a month and getting all of the Stanford sports I actually want, losing out on the home shopping network, or whatever other BS channels I never ever watch.
It seems to me that a lot of cable channels have been drinking at the teat of college football for some time now...so sorry if you're a big fan of Ghost Whisperer, but I think in the future the production values of your show may be on the decline.
