Wait, you mean the transitive property doesn't work in sports? There goes my theory that because we beat USC, we should beat WSU, and therefore OSU.
That's pretty funny, BC, and I can now see how you would think that's what I was trying to demonstrate. Actually, my point was this:
USC 45, WSU 14: USC--who the week before got curb-stomped by Stanford--destroyed WSU while playing with a backup true freshman QB for most of the game. Conclusion: WSU sucks
OSU 45, USC 27: USC sucks (which we already knew), and OSU is pretty good.
WSU 31, OSU 24: WSU has really improved since they were smacked down by USC.
Conclusion: I am much more concerned now about Saturday's game versus WSU than I was a couple of weeks ago.
If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)
