The most common answer is Pritchard, but I think our defense has been a bigger problem than our offense. And assessing defensive lapses is harder than assessing offensive ones. Positionally, we have had problems recruiting in the defensive line (especially depth), and with our safety plan, though that has gotten better this year (and the same guy has recruited and developed our cornerbacks, who are probably above average for the conference). That change would probably be a net benefit is likely, but nailing down the specific change is harder. I have a nagging worry that this is "we have to do something; firing a coach is something; thus we have to fire a coach".
And of course, there is also the fact that I don't know that Shaw will do it or cares that we want it done.

When my son was at Air Force, Fisher DeBerry had presided over a team that over the years had gone from very good to barely mediocre. He was finally given the ultimatum, replace some of your assistants or retire. He chose to retire.
I wonder if Shaw would do that.
