I actually think U.S.C.'s sanctions were overly harsh. Yes, it was marque guy, but it was still just one guy. In my mind, coaches paying someone money to gift wrap recruits is much, much more troubling than an agent buying something for a player to secure future representation. Both are obviously punishable violations, but the former seems a bit more egregious than the latter. We'll see if these rumors turn out to be true.
