USC needs to play UCB because the USC fans are restless. A good thumping of UCB would help calm the masses for a few weeks. A team that has not several key players at practice during the week is an ideal opponent for USC at this stage.
And, while we are at it. A team that has not practiced together for most of the prior 2 weeks would be a good opponent for Stanford.
Beyond football, getting the students tested regularly is rather important IMHO as it is just too easy for a school to have a big campus wide outbreak. Then that will spread to other communities once those kids go back home for Thanksgiving. While most of those in the SF Bay Area are vaccinated, there are a number of CA counties with less than impressive vaccination rates.
I hope the USA doesn't get a mini-wave of COVID-19 after Thanksgiving, but it seems inevitable. Hopefully the two Stanford hoops teams will get their booster doses soon.
