Just look at the players in uniform for Stanford vs. say Utah or Notre Dame. Stanford players in general aren't nearly as physically developed, just from an appearance standpoint, as their better performing peers.
That said, I also remember during Turley's time, Stanford players didn't look especially muscular either. Turley didn't emphasize developing muscles. He was only interested in functional football playing strength and flexibility, not weight room strength.
So it seems now, Stanford players aren't developing their bodies, nor are they developing functional football playing strength any more. I'd be super curious how many 225 bench press reps a guy like DWP can do. Is he not strong enough? Did he play with poor technique, or both?
