This will open up the schedule to create matchups between the Alliance members. As part of this change, look for the end to the annual games v. USC and UCLA. I would a expect a divisionless conference with one everyone receiving one guaranteed conference game annually (v. the rival school) and a rotation of the other seven.
Definitely will be 8 conference games but it could be a pod structure with the California schools in one pod, northwest schools in another pod and Arizonas/Colorado/Utah in a third pod in terms of scheduling. Or Cal/Stanford/Colorado/Utah in one pod and SoCal and Arizona schools in another pod. Lots of possibilities, can't predict the formula yet.
- just saw that Needle was writing along the same lines at the same time. In any case there is more than one possible pod configuration although keeping the California rivalries intact would be my preference.
