So what is Nick implying?  That yes, UCLA has sick players, but they just had cold symptoms and would be playing were it not for someone deciding athletes infected with Covid shouldn't be playing?  Seems to be a very stupid statement to be making. "Yes, he took a shot to the head and can't remember what year it is, but he can still run and hit, and would be playing without these lame concussion protocols!"

I don't know for sure, but what I THINK is being said is that there are some players that tested positive, and that these players have close contacts that must quarantine, so UCLA can't field a team. Indeed it is because of Covid protocol, not because there are that many players literally sick.
My reaction is "So what?" There are rules in place to protect the players from exposure to others that may become positive at any time because they were exposed. No news here, always has been that way.
