That's almost a non-sequitur, as the kids who left Michigan did so because they wanted more PT elsewhere. Stanford players with eligibility, who would start, are bailing on the Cardinal. Some got drafted, some did not, some opted to enroll elsewhere. The situations are not comparable.
Name Stanford potential starters that have left. Sure there have been some. Same with Michigan.
Michigan list does not include those that left early for NFL.
College players are moving all over the place. Stanfords problem is they can’t often take advantage of the transfer aspect of the portal.
You’ve named one stater. And as pointed out, his decision may be family based. I think at all schools players enter the portal for a host of individual reasons. If you have evidence that Stanford players are leaving due to program issues, by all means, present it.
Oh for goodness sake. You expect Stanford kids to say: "Yeah, I have another year left to play ball, and I want to play. But Stanford sucks so much that I'm going to a real program with real fan support."? How about this: you go on believing that all is hunky dory in the program; and I'll go on believing that the program will not climb out of the abyss until MAJOR changes are made. That should cover most bases.
P.S. I will give you this: the recruiting class is big and schools must go back to 85 scholie limit (iirc). This has led to "tough decisions" for a lot of schools, including Stanford. But when a starter in a position of need bails to play at another school (as opposed to going NFL), then that is a bad indicator in my book . . . even with a scholie crunch. Roster management - which had never been an issue with so many unused scholies under Shaw - is also on HC/staff to handle properly.
