While what we say here will no more change the shooting percentages than the breeze from a butterfly's wings, I do think it is wise to avoid woofing.
Consider 4 scenarios: the Cardinal as winner/loser and woofer/woofee.
If a woofer's team wins, woofing before hand only makes him/her feel smugger. I think that's a good way to fall further later.
The opponent might not feel much different, but might be more resentful and more determined to do whatever it takes for the next game.
If a woofer's team loses, woofing before hand only makes the loss harder to take, and to make him/her a big target for the opponent.
The opponent is going to be more joyous and rightfully has good reason to rub the woofer's nose in it.
And, if that isn't enough, think of how the woofer looks to a third party.
Celebrate any victory that the team earns, but remember why the game is played.
OTOH, if Cardboard woofing is posted in an opponent's locker room, maybe it might help motivate them to prove us wrong.
