Can't a player simply apply credits from the transfer institution, finish at Stanford and receive a Stanford degree? this is what some players did in the past, e.g. Tim Carey transferred to Hawaii, finished his football career there, but completed his academic career at Stanford and received his degree. As long as more than half the required credits were earned at Stanford you could do this in the past. If it's still the case then there's obviously even less incentive to eschew transferring since the "40 Year Decision" still holds except for a brief football playing detour elsewhere. Perhaps someone on the board knows what the current rules are.
