When I was a student at Stanford I transferred some credits from a couple of different colleges in, and it was not easy.  Some of the credits were denied since there was no equivalent course at Stanford, one was denied because Boise State (where I completed an internship while home for a summer) was not considered rigorous enough by the poli sci people looking over the syllabus.  

I have no idea whether things are easier now, but my experience is that transferring credits into Stanford is not easy or reliable.  I was advised to seek approval for every course I took elsewhere before I took it.
