Well, you've shifted the discussion to the future. At present, I maintain that the US has more talent on the field than Mexico. It's far from definitive but the US has many more players in the big five leagues, Champions League group stages and knockout stages, etc. At some point Mexico has to integrate the next generation but there's only one window remaining in qualifying.
The US outshot Mexico 18-8 in the first qualifier, far from bunkering. Of course I expect a more conservative approach at the Azteca given the altitude and the current standings, but for better or worse the US has not played a counter attacking style for some time.
Anyway, I'm glad to find posters here following the USMNT and World Cup qualifiers.
