Over at the UCLA BRO site, there are posts about their tennis players offering lessons to fans at $100+/hr. So it is OK to be a “teaching pro” but not a “playing pro”? Aren't both teaching and playing pros making money off their skills in their sport?

I taught swimming to 5 year-olds for a couple of bucks an hour while I was a high school swimmer.  Did that make me a pro?  Not at the time.

That sounds more like a thinly-veiled NIL rather than being professional.  Where they become a professional is when their room & board & education &....  Oh, we already went down that slippery slope.
