Prior to Shaw, the last coach to win 7+ games and a conference title at least once was John Ralston, before I was born.  The last time we’ve finished over .500 three consecutive years before Shaw was 1976-1978 (Jack Christensen’s last year and Walsh I’s two years).

The benchmark you established was “7+ wins every season and a division title in the next 3” for what it would take to get Shaw in everyone’s good graces, and I was noting that nobody in the last 50 years other than Shaw has done that, and even if you relax the criteria to three consecutive winning seasons, you have to go back to the 70’s. It does answer the question accurately, but it also demonstrates how delusional people’s expectations on this board are.
