But everybody's interested in the relative strength of upcoming opponents, and injuries are part of that. There's also a natural feeling of relief if, for whatever reason, we don't have to face a particularly dangerous opposition player. I think that's totally distinct from rooting for injuries.
I suppose we could always root for academic suspensions, but that doesn't seem very sporting either.
