During timeouts when watching Stanford WBB tonight, check out Pac-12 Men's swimming (finals start at 6 on Pac-12 Networks LA). Stanford started the meet with a 131 diving point lead over Cal. Stanford still ahead but after finals tonight their lead is projected to be less than 50 points so tonight and tomorrow will be crunch time. Cal has more swimmers, more entries, and more finalists. Cal also benefitted greatly from a re-swim for one of their 100 back swimmers who went from 17th place (no points) to the A final, and last night a Cal swimmer in the 200IM final was at the blocks in an illegal suit. Instead of an expected DQ, the officials gave him plenty of time to replace the suit while all the other swimmers had to stand around, losing focus.
100 Butterfly starts soon. Stanford's redshirt freshman Minakov was first in prelims this morning, breaking the conference meet record.
Update: Minakov won the 100 fly with the 5th fastest time ever.
