I realize I'm stating the obvious, but here goes. We're dealing with seventeen- and eighteen-year-old kids whose decisions can be influenced by any number of variables (family, girlfriend, weather, distance, etc.) that are beyond the program's control. Also, as has been pointed out, National Signing Day is five months away. During those five months, the Cardinal will play ten more football games, and each is an opportunity to impress these recruits. Last week's win was obviously noticed. Seven or eight more wins? You don't think that might make a difference to some of these guys? Let's say Stanford ends up playing in the Rose Bowl. I'm guessing some of these guys -- assuming they gain admission -- will decide to flip to a school that's played in three straight BCS bowl games.
I don't think there's much to worry about here. Things are looking about as bright as they ever have for Stanford football. It doesn't make sense to worry about clouds that might come. Enjoy the sun.

Please clear the field! The game is not over!
