And if USC had a healthy center they probably would've beaten them by 20 or 25. The 59er fans have the much better read on this: they were utterly dominated on every place but the scoreboard. I think people are overreacting to SC's struggles--to me, when I compare SC to other ranked teams around the country, I only see a few it can't hang with or be favored against. (Hint: They're called "The Crimson Tide.")
Anyway, there's a simple reason you'd much rather have Nunes than Maynard:
Nunes turnovers: 3 (one of which in garbage time vs. Duke)
Maynard turnovers: 5
Of course Maynard has good wideouts bailing him out, whereas Nunes has had quite a few drops and other issues. (Ty Montgomery, for example--has dropped two well-thrown Nunes bombs and stumbled after catching another that surely would've turned into a touchdown had he kept running in stride.)
So I'd much rather have Nunes than Maynard at current levels of production; because of Nunes' relative inexperience and the newness of many of the parts on offense, I'd rather have his upside too.
