If you haven't traveled to Normandy, Brittany, Bastogne et al it is worth the trip.

Went to Normandy one weekend when I was studying at our program in Tours. Same feeling as I had when I went to the Anne Franke House in Amsterdam, The Arizona Memorial, and Le Struthof concentration camp near Strasbourg. I couldn't even speak while I was there and not for the better part of an hour afterwards. Truly moving.

My kids are named after my grandfather, who trained torpedo bomber pilots, and his brother, who was a Screaming Eagle. I got my grandfather to talk about a small part of his experience once. My great uncle would never talk about it, even to his kids.
