The NCAA should review the entire subject of amateurism and sports. I realize they were at times backed into the current policy by external forces.
There is a high school kid in Turkey playing on a professional volleyball team who hopes to play for/attend Stanford. She's in the top academically ranked high school in Turkey and likely will be admitted. Her pro contract is structured so money is put into a trust in the event she plays volleyball at a NCAA school. The money then reverts back to the professional club if she decides to play for Stanford. Accepting a small salary would prevent her playing sports for an NCAA team. Meanwhile Stanford women golf players make megabucks on big NIL deals and are in good standing as "amateurs".
