Benjamin was given a fifth year and was superb in '77. He was hurt late in the Oregon game and Dies entered and led a game clinching final drive. Guy couldn't play the next week and Dils played well and Stanford beat UCLA 32-28. If I remember correctly Walsh subbed in Lofton on the games final play and he intercepted a Hail Mary.
Schonert played enough snaps (with Elway breathing down his neck) to qualify as the NCAA passing leader in 1979.
