Stanford was her first choice for much of her prep career. I heard two stories about why she didn't end up here.
1.) While she had good SAT scores, they weren't quite good enough to be admitted. Her GPA was great.
2.) Dunning recruited her and said she would have a fair chance at playing OH but he would ultimately choose the best players for the two OH positions. That was fine with her. When Dunning retired, Hambly told her she would be a libero at Stanford and OH wasn't realistic. She decided to look at other options.
IMO she would have been a game changer of immense proportions if she was at Stanford. There's no doubt in my mind she would have ended up at OH with the Stanford team.
