To partially answer one of Matt's questions about defense... the young guys on the DL give a bit of hope for the future. Just need more of them. Bailey, Moi, # 92 and #94. Armitage got exposed a couple of times but he has great size on the edge and has a chance to get better. They still need a stud LB (or ILB for the non-Sam McF crowd). Blake Martinez made a lot of tackles and they haven't had close since.
Bonner made the play of the night IMO.
If you watched Sanders of OKS, Rising of Utah, Williams of SC, the kid at Tennessee and others yesterday and Mariota this morning they bring an extra that Stanford doesn't have in the extreme. Not on on designed QB runs but the ability to tuck and pick up first downs.
I kept switching between SU/ND and the Utah game. The crowd and the play made the Salt Lake game more like an X-15 while the South Bend game was running like a balsa wood model. Bama/Tenn must have been great but SC/Utah was one of the best games I've ever seen and I've been working and watching football since 1952.
At minimum Shaw must shake up the staff. Any business stuck in neutral vis a vis department heads has to bring in new blood to survive.
