it's entirely possible that Harris was excited to come to the Farm and play football.  he knows he's behind Smith and Filkins, but that's ok.....he'll practice hard and learn the offense in case he's needed.
Smith is out for the season after game 2, so he keeps practicing hard, thinking maybe he has a shot at playing this year.  Shaw/Gould still has him behind a walk-on and an all-purpose back, but that's ok.....he'll keep practicing hard in case he's called on.
then Filkins is knocked out for the season.  Arlen figures since he's been practicing hard, maybe he'll get his shot.  after all, David Bailey, Ernest Cooper, Fisher Anderson, Sam Roush, Jaxson Moi, Mudia Reuben, Ashton Daniels, and maybe even C J Hawkins have gotten their shot.  
then he's told, no.
personally, i don't blame him one bit.
