I actually felt the opposite having watched the game. I’ve watched both teams in their previous games, as well as South Carolina’s games thus far. My biggest takeaway is that SC and Stanford are a step above 3 and below this year.
They did go at a face pace but that is Texas and they are going to do that and keep their motors going. UConn teams have also done that in the past, but Stanford always kept them low scoring. I felt neither team shot well (with the exception of Azzi Fudd in the second half). I think our front court would shut either team down, and Lepolo gives us the option to run on breaks just as fast as either of these teams. Both teams were pretty sloppy looking to me. But they did both have intensity from beginning to end. And UConn is better than I expected them to be. But I still think there’s a clear top two teams in the country this year after the first week and a half of play.
