We had the 'skin' from the 1929 Rose Bowl hanging in our fraternity. It was actually in great condition, in a locked frame, and bolted to the wall about 16 feet above the floor. By contrast, the Duke and Tulane skins from the '70s may have found their way onto various homecoming displays and wrecks.
Tech gave Riegels a varsity letter, and apparently he was a great sport about it all. Personally, I think Tech and California should crank the series back up. They last played in 1978, which was the first game between the two since 1940. California has gotten some measure of retribution with a 4-2 record against GT since the Rose.

As an aside, I thought The Play was hilarious at the time. (Still do really. If the band is that clueless as to what is happening on the field, they deserve to be part of infamy.) We saw some late night replays. We might have been drinking. That is within the realm of possibilities. "Check out that dude with the trombone....hahahahaha....Boom!! Hey, who the ***** stole my grilled cheese! You ******* bastards!" Couldn't even tell you who the two teams were at the time. Weird brown astroturf. Our TV may have "fallen off a truck." That is also within the realm of possibilities.

Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working .I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work. Peter Gibbons
