I am very sympathetic to Meyer's parents, and lord knows the university's disciplinary investigations and hearing procedures are deeply flawed and in need of a near-total overhaul.
All that said, the allegation that this notice negligently caused Meyer's suicide -- and that university officials should have been aware of that -- is, well, not very persuasive. And it makes me wonder whether there had been any kind of warning signs about Meyer's mental health prior to her suicide, because such a response in a mentally sound person would seem pretty disproportionate to the nature of the issue at hand. I can't help but feel like there's more to the story than has been made public.
