That was so so so much better in every respect. Better energy, much better passing, just really worked the offense well. Rebounding back to being dominant. I liked that Iriafen started. Brink and Jones were great. This is the sort of performance from Jones that makes using her as the point guard for a portion of the game look like a good thing. Tara still played the bench a lot, which generally I like because it keeps everyone's legs fresh, and they all responded. Loved all the high low passes and the posts sharing the ball so well.
Betts was fantastic. She looks much improved, like she now has the confidence and knowledge about what she should be doing to relax and just play. Her passing was excellent. Nivar had a great game. Her steals and aggressive defense were a big lift and unlike earlier this season, she is not fouling when she gets aggressive. Demetre played well. Belibi with her two blocks. Prechtel came in late and made a case to play more in just a minute. Lepolo played well. She got two great steals, just sneaking into the passing lane and basically got UA to pass her the ball. Jump played well and got some rest, which I really like. I'm probably leaving someone out, but overall, this was the sort of effort we should expect from a team with this much talent. I know they can't always play perfectly. This sort of effort will win almost any game.
If the UW loss makes this sort of play happen for the rest of the year, it was worth it. Also great that this game was on ESPN where everyone could see it. The team made a great impression. Now, no let up vs ASU!!!
Gotta say it again, Betts was fantastic! If she can play like that going forward, it will add a ton on O and D.
