The $10k is a baseline for everyone. It doesn't preclude individual players from getting more, and I believe the plan is to increase the base amount over time. Still, Stanford does have to figure out what the market of high academic achieving recruits wants, and make sure it is offered if Stanford wants to have any chance to generate revenue from sports and maintain a robust athletics program.
