To help deal with the pain of cancelled softball games, I'm posting about WVB. There is a big USAV National Qualifier (Red Rock Rave) this weekend in Las Vegas. Over 200 teams on the wait list who didn't get in. Some players of interest to Stanford playing in the tournament:
Club V 18 (Utah): Jordyn and Taylor Harvey: Taylor (2025) is a 16 year old MB starting on a top 18s team so she must be good. Don't know if she is interested in following her sister to Stanford.
WAVE 18 (San Diego): Julia Blyashov and Koko Kirsch (DS). I've only seen Kirsch on video highlights. Will she get playing time freshman year?
SG Elite 17 (San Gabriel): Taylor Yu (2024 setter). Perhaps heir apparent to Miner but she might choose beach over indoor.
These teams won all their pool play games today. I'll give an update tomorrow for the two or three cardboarders who are interested.
Stanford is going on a European trip this summer to play exhibition games. Hambly said Kurt will join them. Will Blyashov, Harvey, and Kirsch be there also?
Kurt is still playing on her professional team which is a little surprising. She is a young 19 year old being groomed for the future. Why continue to spend coaching resources and travel expenses on a player who is gone after the season. This is a pro team which is a business owned primarily by a petroleum distribution company and an airlines.
