Round 1 is in the books for Stanford. I hope that Michael Thorbjornsen has a strong back because he is carrying the team once again. He put up 10 birdies and a bogey for a 63 (-9). At least today, one of his teammates helped out. 5th man Ethan Ng had 8 birdies, an eagle and 2 bogeys for 64 (-8).
The rest of the squad also joined in the birdie fest but gave most or all of it back. Vilips finished at 71 (-1) which included a triple bogey on the 9th hole. Brown recovered from a struggling start by going 4 under on the back 9. He shot 70 (-2). Menon was the drop score at 73 (+1).
The course played incredibly easy today. With some golfers still on the course, over 2/3 of the field is under par. The field is a collective 154 under par on the par 5s.
