Stanford faded on the back 9, going +8 on the final 4 holes. They posted a score of 290 (+10) tied for 19th place for now. As in past years, the team will be playing from behind to try to work its way back up the leaderboard into the top 8.
The Cardinal was led by Barclay Brown who shot a strong 68 (-2). He got no help from All American teammate Michael Thorbjornsen who did not play like an All American. He shot 77 (+7) including a double bogey on 18. Nate Menon also had a 77. Karl Vilips bogeyed 2 of the last 3 holes for 72 (+2). Ethan Ng shot 73 (+3).
Among the top 10 teams, only ASU shot a worse score than Stanford.
Stanford plays early tomorrow starting at 6:32 am when scoring conditions may be a bit better. Still, it's going to be tough for Stanford to recover from this round.
