ASU has completed its round and posted +12.
If Barclay Brown pars 18, Stanford will post +12 and the teams will go to a playoff. Anything higher, and Stanford will not advance. A birdie is a near impossibility. Only 3 players have birdied 18 the last 2 days.
Stanford is mighty lucky to be in this position. Brown hit a dead duck hook with his driver on 17 that somehow ricocheted off a tree into a decent lie from which he was able to make par. He had that in his head as he stood on the tee at 18, but nailed his tee shot in the middle of the fairway. Ethan Ng drove into a fairway bunker on 18, played out short of the green, pitched up 30 feet short of the hole and amazingly made the putt for par.
If needed, the playoff format will involve all 5 golfers from Stanford and ASU each playing one hole from 14 through 18. Low aggregate score wins.
Middle of the fairway, middle of the green and 2 putts for Brown. Stanford ties ASU! We're going to a playoff for the 8th spot.
