just out of curiosity, are there any engineers here with knowledge of the advantages and disadvantages of constructing deep-sea submersibles with carbon composite materials?

I’m absolutely not an engineer, but from what I read, the first and most basic mistake was not getting the carbon-based material tested to see if it would resist the deep-sea pressure. Apparently it didn’t.
