As was obvious would happen, the donors are taking their money to the NIL collective and withholding it from the Athletic Department they have - no reason to - have faith in. 

I believe you've forgotten the tax treatment of that money as being different.

Are you insinuating Cal donors won’t donate because there is no tax break for NIL collective contributions?I’ve never seen anyone comment that they wouldn’t donate because there is no tax break. Cal people are more interested in winning than tax write-offs. And they are most interested in not enabling incompetence like Jim Knowlton. Of course so too are donors at other schools ponying up cash for player. It may very well be that Cal remains behind the curve since just because they are paying, it doesn’t mean others aren’t offering more.
