My guess is that Hogan might not know enough of the playbook to play in every situation, and therefore might not take the first snap if a few things happen.  However, Hogan will play in most of the game situations. 

It will be fun to watch, and I sure hope it works out because Hogan gives Stanford a much better chance at that major upset in Eugene and needs playing time.
